Leader's Bio

The High and Wood Elves

Elves are well known for their poetry, dance, song, lore, and magical arts. Elves favor things of natural and simple beauty. When danger threatens their woodland homes, however, elves reveal a more martial side, demonstrating skill with sword, bow, and battle strategy.

Physical:
Wood Elves stand from about 5' to 5'11", they are slightly more agile than their High cousins and hide better in camoflague, they favour nature over most things and as such, they wear simple pastel shades of green, blue, grey or brown clothes and favour weapons such as the bow and spear, they tend to have brown, auburn, black or dark blonde hair and Green or Brown eyes. High elves on the other hand tend to be from 5'3" to 6' tall and have long blonde hair and blue or green eyes, they have a greater grasp of magic and the use of martial weapons, such as the sword, than their Wood Elf cousins.

Personality:
Wood Elves tend to be more fun-loving, frivolous and mischievous in nature, while High Elves are very upright, Regal and Focused. A mixed blood (Half Wood/Half High) will often show the qualities of both races, sometimes flickering from one set of traits to the other Elves are more often amused than excited, more likely to be curious than greedy. With such long lives, they tend to keep a broad perspective on events, remaining aloof and unfazed by petty happenstance. When pursuing a goal, however, whether an adventurous mission or learning a new skill or art, they can be focused and relentless. They are slow to make friends and enemies, and even slower to forget them. They reply to petty insults with disdain and to serious insults with vengeance.

Relations:
Elves have good relations with the Humans, who have been their allies for many wars. They are good friends with the Dwarves, but because of racial differences in style, they are not close. Most Elves have an unrelenting hatred for The Druchii. While haughty, elves are not particular the way halflings and dwarves can be, and they are generally pleasant and gracious even to those who fall short of elven standards (which, after all, consists of just about everybody whos not an elf).

Alignment:
Elves love freedom, variety, and self-expression. Generally, they value and protect others freedom as well as their own, and they are more often good than not.

Elven Lands:
Elves mostly live in small woodland clans of less than a few thousand souls. Their well-hidden villages blend into the trees, doing little harm to the forest. They hunt game, gather food, and grow vegetables, their skill and magic allowing them to support themselves amply without the need for clearing and plowing land. Their contact with outsiders is usually limited, though some few elves make a good living trading finely worked elven clothes and crafts for the metals that elves have no interest in mining.
Elves encountered outside of Greenvale are commonly wandering minstrels, favored artists, or sages. Human nobles compete for the services of elven instructors, who teach swordplay to their children.

Religion:
Above all others, elves worship Corellon Larethian, the Protector and Preserver
of life. Elven myth holds that it was from his blood, shed in battles with Gruumsh, the god of the orcs, that the elves first arose. Corellon is a patron of magical study, arts, dance, and poetry, as well as a powerful warrior god. Among others worshipped are Silvanus, Rillifane, Obad Hai, Elhonna, Asuryan and Isha .

Language:
Elves speak a fluid language of subtle intonations and intricate grammar.
While Elven literature is rich and varied, it is the languages songs and poems that are
most famous. Many bards learn Elven so they can add Elven ballads to their repertoires.
Others simply memorize Elven songs by sound. The Elven script, as flowing as the spoken
word, also serves as the script for Sylvan, the language of dryads and pixies.

King Raniel Kavilion Dunahm

Raniel was orphaned at the age of 50 (5 in human terms) and witnessed the slaughter of his family while they were out hunting.
They were ambushed by a dark elf group of shades and violently murdered. Raniel himself was cut badly as he ran from the fray when his father was beheaded.
A waywatcher group found him after 12 hours of searching the forest, coated in blood. They bore him back to the palace to be tended.
Horrific memories and flashbacks dominated most of his childhood. Thankfully, being of strong mind helped Raniel recover reasonably quickly. Being too young to bear the crown, Sorthiel took command of the realm until he was of age, by which time, he was back to full health in mind and body.
He then led repeated crusades against the foul kin of the Mor'Quessir, dealing them blow after blow, eventually, things boiled down and it ended when Raniel himself killed the old Dominator.
Since then, he has found peace in wielding his fathers sword and armour into the fray and researching his old battle tactics and reading bards tales of his deeds, hoping one day, he too will make it into stories told all over to eager children. His recent courtship and marriage to Sxun Drake, now the Queen, has made him happier than he has ever been.
